Micky Cook's Colchester United youngsters are still in the running for a glamour tie in this year's Times AXA FA Youth Cup.

The Layer Road kids drew 2-2 in Wednesday night's round two clash at Stevenage Borough, thanks to a Dean Morgan strike and an own goal.

If they win next Tuesday's replay, they could be heading for another big third round showpiece at Blackburn's Ewood Park early in the New Year - provided the young Rovers see off Northampton Town first.

The U's bowed out to Leeds United after a replay last season.

Meanwhile, the U's are planning another "Fans Forum" early in the New Year to discuss the future of the club. The U's are working together with the Colchester United Supporters Association to put on a question and answers session with the fans spanning a whole range of issues.

U's chief executive Marie Partner said: "We want to make this a really special evening for the fans who have supported us through thick and thin and we want everyone to be there so we can inform them of our hopes for the future.

"It will also be a public awareness exercise, a chance for people to put faces to names and to find out more about what we are trying to do to make Colchester United both a footballing and business success story for the town and community."
