A post office manager was left shaken after a robbery at his store in Eastwood Boulevard, Westcliff.

Two men asked to buy chewing gum and cigarettes. As manager Tony Moltino, 42, went to serve them he was punched in the face.

One leaned over the counter and grabbed £60 from the till before the duo ran off.

The robbery happened at 6.30am on Thursday.

The manager was today too distressed to speak about the incident as he nursed a bruised cheek at home.

A police spokesman said: "We are keen to speak to anyone with information about this attack."

The men are both described as being eastern-European, mid to late 20s and 5ft 8ins.
