Canvey hero Dean Macey has been in the spotlight again - but it has nothing to do with his athletics prowess.

This time it was the 23-year-old decathlete's angling skills that were being filmed as Sky TV brought their cameras to Hockley Angling Club for their 'Tight Lines' show.

The programme will show Dean being interviewed by angling specialist Keith Arthur as the pair went on to catch plenty of fish. It will be shown on December 21.

The Hockley venue was the ideal choice for action as the latest three matches again produced good weights for those taking part - despite the terrible weather.

In the first match Paul Abrahams was the clear winner with a quality bag of carp for 65lb 8oz.

Second spot went to Geoff Long with 31lb 2oz. His catch included a healthy supply of quality roach.

John Aldous and Dave Gowers were joint third with 26lb exactly.

The second match saw Gordon Green land a good mixed bag for a winning weight of 47lb 8oz.

Peter Roue was second with 21lb 6oz. His catch also included a 10lb 8oz mirror carp expertly played and landed on his light pole gear.

Richard Manshield was third with 15lb 12oz.

In the last match Dave Ealding fished solely for carp using large pellets which made him the clear winner with 36lb exactly.

Runner-up was George Webster with 18lb 15oz with Les Wisbeech third with 13lb 7oz.

Jim Martin was fourth with 9lb 15oz.
