A man was killed and five people seriously injured in two separate car crashes in Fobbing over the weekend which brought misery and chaos to the area.
In the first tragedy a man died and his son was seriously injured when their car left the road at the Five Bells roundabout at the junction with High Road, Fobbing, and ploughed into a barrier.
The accident happened at around 2.40am on Saturday and the 44-year-old driver of the Ford Mondeo - who is from the Corringham area - was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old man - believed to be the man's son - suffered serious head injuries and is in Basildon Hospital.
Later on Saturday night a head-on smash in Southend Road, Fobbing, left one local couple in their 40s fighting for their lives and another couple with serious injuries.
