Detectives probing the death of 17-year-old Steven "Bobby" Simpson have discovered vital witnesses after stopping more than 200 drivers in the spot where he was killed.
Bobby suffered massive injuries and later died in Basildon Hospital after being hit by a car while trying to cross the A127 at its junction with Hardings Elm Road on Saturday, November 25.
On Saturday night officers from Laindon traffic unit, returned to the spot and stopped drivers in the hope of unearthing more clues and finding witnesses.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "In excess of 200 drivers were stopped and questioned during the course of the operation and quite a number could be potential witnesses in the case and officers are now following up the information."
Joining officers on Saturday night was Bobby's father, Steve, 41, who said: "As Steven's father I have come here to pay my respects to my son.
"I would like to say how impressed I am with the police for all the effort they have put in so far. I would also like to thank everyone who has offered support and sympathy."
