More than a third of the tickets for Sunday's massive FA Cup match between Canvey Island and Southend United have already been snapped up by fans.

Supporters started queuing as early as 7.15am yesterday (Monday) at Roots Hall and some loyal fans waited for up to two hours to get their hands on tickets.

Queues stretched around the car park and it was a similar story at Canvey Island's Park Lane home last night.

Southend and Canvey reported selling more than 2,000 tickets each out of their 50-50 allocation for the 12,306-capacity stadium in Victoria Avenue.

And the clubs predicted they would have sold their remaining tickets by tomorrow as interest in the FA Cup 2nd round tie continued to build across south Essex.

Canvey Olympian Dean Macey has also given full support to his home team. The decathalete expects a 1-1 draw when the teams meet at Roots Hall this Saturday but he predicts Canvey will go on to be triumphant in a replay.

Wait for it - they queued at Roots Hall all day for tickets
