A man was injured in an attack in Colchester.

He was treated for head injuries and a broken arm after he was hit with a baseball bat by two men who got out of a Mercedes at about 2.30am on Saturday.

The 40-year-old housing officer was walking home near the Quality Hotel, in East Street, when the car drew up near him.

Police have appealed for witnesses who saw the man being hit on his head and body.

One of the attackers is described as olive-skinned, aged 20 to 25, 5ft 10ins, with short, dark hair and a slim build.

The other man was white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 10ins, medium build, with short, tidy, light brown hair. Both wore white shirts.
