Fabian Wilnis believes Shaun Wright-Phillips is the main dangerman standing between Ipswich Town and glory in the Worthington Cup.

Town meet Manchester City in a rearranged quarter-final at Maine Road tonight (Tuesday) and Wilnis thinks the teenager could prove their chief tormentor.

The wing-back said: "Wright-Phillips is playing so well at the moment. He was excellent when we played City in the league last month and we'll certainly have to keep an eye on him tonight.

"But, if you look at our squad, I think we've got the better players. We're the better footballing side and of course we fancy our chances of making progress."

Wilnis is keeping his fingers crossed for a recall after missing the weekend triumph against Southampton through suspension.

He was replaced on the right of Ipswich's four-man defence by Gary Croft.

Wilnis added: "It felt very strange watching from the stands but I thought Gary did very well. Of course, we all want to play every match but it's great for the team to have such competition for places. It keeps us all on top of our game."

Town boss George Burley is sweating on the fitness of Marcus Stewart.

The ten-goal top scorer picked up a thigh injury against the Saints while Alun Armstrong, who scored twice on his home debut in that 3-1 triumph, is cup-tied.

The match was originally scheduled for last week but abandoned after 22 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch.

A two-legged semi-final against Birmingham City awaits the winners of tonight's (Tuesday's) clash.

Meanwhile, Morecambe have accepted the FA's ruling on ticket prices for their FA Cup third round clash with Ipswich at Christie Park.

The Nationwide Conference club were having second thoughts about hosting the tie after being told to charge Town fans £5 less than their own supporters.
