Gale force winds and rain didn't stop Gloucester Park 'regular' Kevin Williams from taking first place with 23-3-8 on Sunday.

Despite falling branches and many wrecked umbrellas, Kevin managed to land seven carp, a tench and several good chub.

He fished with pole tactics, until the increasing wind forced him to switch to the quivertip.

An open ended feeder and red maggot cast tight to the island helped him produce the fish.

Second place went to Les Lavotha, fishing the canal stretch with a pole.

He finished the day with 14 fish weighing a total of 19-1-0, including tench, crucians, a skimmer bream and a big roach.

Jim Redburn took third place with 12-15-0, despite packing up early.

Redburn's catch from the big bay included 3-7-0 of roach, and a single mirror carp of 9-8-0, which took over 50 minutes to land.

Fourth place went to Stan Howard with a 10-0-0 catch from the cockle bank, with Terry Lock finishing fifth with 9-11-0.

The popular Gloucester Park Winter Open will take place this Sunday (December 17), with numerous hampers and other Christmas prizes in addition to the normal payouts.
