The Billericay school have leapt to national trampolining prominence after success in the British Schools Championships (Eastern Counties).

The under-19 girls team came second in the qualifiers to earn a spot in the national championships in Port Talbot, South Wales on January 27.

Joanna Woodger, who also claimed an individual spot after a second-placed finish, was joined in the team by Dawn Kelleher, Kirby Powell, Rebecca Nutt and Emily Williams.

Further individual honours went to Leanne Powell, who qualified in third spot for the under-13 final.

Versatile Amanda has a spring in her step

Amanda Parker can certainly lay claim to the title of sporting all-rounder.

The year ten girl is one of three pupils from King John School, Thundersley, to have been chosen for the Essex hockey squad - the others are year nine Melanie Lamb and Anna Graves, from year 11.

However, Amanda is also in the British Youth squad for trampolining and has just captured a national challenge cup gym competition title as a senior (ages 14 and over).
