A man killed in a horror road smash has been named.
Danny Comolli, 22, of Sonters Down, Rettendon, died when the Maestro he was driving was in a head-on collision with a Mondeo in Runwell Road, Wickford, on Sunday.
His 19-year-old passenger is fighting for his life and underwent surgery at Hammersmith Hospital for serious internal injuries. Doctors said his condition is serious but stable.
A husband and wife from Rettendon were travelling in the Mondeo. She has three cracked ribs and is being treated at Basildon Hospital. He was treated for cuts and bruises.
Two other passengers in the Maestro, also from Rettendon, suffered cuts and bruising but were not admitted to hospital.
