A conman tricked his way into a 93-year-old wheelchair-bound woman's Manningtree home and stole £50.
The pensioner, who lives at Ironside Walk next to Foundry Court, let the man in after he told her he worked for the water board.
But when he left her home, she discovered the money was missing.
Det Con Bernie King, of Harwich CID, said he urgently needed to hear from witnesses who may have seen the man and an accomplice who waited outside.
The first man was white, aged about 35, 5ft 10ins tall, heavily built, with short brown hair, stubble and was scruffy-looking. A second man who was seen waiting outside was about 30 years old, thin and with dark short hair.
Det Con King can be reached at Harwich police station on 01255 241312 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
