A young woman was indecently assaulted by a man as they waited for a bus at a village stop.
The 21-year-old victim, who has not been named by police, was groped by her attacker as they sat on a seat on the main B1035 road through Tendring.
The woman ran off in one direction and the man made his escape in the direction of Beaumont.
She was not injured in the assault and did not need medical treatment.
Sgt Rob Sharman, of Clacton police, said it was a very nasty incident which happened in the dark early on Saturday evening.
Sgt Sharman said the man was already sitting at the stop when she approached and sat down waiting for a bus at about 6pm.
The man was white and about 30-years-old and about 6ft tall.
He wore a blue Puffa jacket and soft fabric jeans and brown boots. He had long dark brown hair in a pony tail.
The woman also noticed that he had a distinctive scar under his right eye and tattoos on the knuckle of his right hand.
Anyone who saw the attacker at the bus stop before the incident, or running away afterwards, should contact police.
