Parents go face to face with Essex education chiefs for the first time tonight at a showdown meeting over the fate of an axe-threatened primary school.
The county council announced shock proposals to shut Chapel Hill County School in Braintree more than two weeks ago.
Since then, more than 1,500 people have signed a petition to save the school and Braintree MP Alan Hurst has raised its plight in Westminster.
Chapel Hill mum Sarah Spooner, who is leading the parents' campaign, said everyone had been gearing up for the crunch talks.
She said: "We have all been working towards tonight - everything is geared towards then."
Mrs Spooner said a copy of the Save Chapel Hill petition would be handed over to education chiefs at the meeting, but campaigners will continue to collect signatures.
Nigel Hunt, head of planning and access services, Pat Collard, from advisory and inspection services and planning and admissions adviser Chris Harvey will represent Essex County Council at the meeting.
