Various projects in Chelmsford and other parts of Essex have benefited from a £350,000 grant payout by the Essex Environment Trust.

Among major beneficiaries is Chelmsford Community Recycling Programme, which receives nearly £55,000.

Mill Race IT, currently based at Moulsham Mill, Chelmsford, receives £45,000, which will enable it to move to larger premises and double its production.

The firm reconditions and upgrades outdated PCs for export at a nominal charge to African-based charities and educational foundations.

Little Baddow Conservation Society will receive £25,000 towards the purchase of Holybred Wood.

Two windmills will benefit, with £40,000 going to the restoration of a semi-derelict mill at Ashdon, near Saffron Walden, and £6,000 towards the restoration of Bocking windmill.

Repairs to the roof and spire of Danbury Church will be assisted to the extent of £28,440

The trust has also agreed help of up to £35,000 for the cost of roof repairs at St Mary's Church, Moreton.

Roxwell Village Hall will receive £13,803 towards refurbishment and improvement costs, and Gosfield £20,000 towards its new community pavilion.

The trust has agreed to pay £15,453 to restore the domed 19th century summerhouse in the Bridge End Gardens at Saffron Walden.
