Southend has claimed a partial victory in a stormy feud with Chelmsford - over which town should appear on a BBC weather map.
Newsroom South East has always featured Chelmsford on the forecaster's diagram.
TV chiefs dismissed complaints from Southend, insisting the map was not big enough for both towns.
But the outlook was good yesterday (Tuesday) as BBC Newsroom South East chiefs relented and agreed to alternate Southend and Chelmsford on their map.
Council chief executive and town clerk George Krawiec said: "I am delighted the importance of Southend has been recognised by its inclusion on the weather map. It is a pity it has taken such a long time.
"Southend attracts millions of visitors every year and people need to know it is the sunshine spot of the east of England."
