Police are quizzing two youths over a hoax bomb found in Maldon.
The device - containing nuts and bolts - was found outside Maldon Court School by a passer-by who took it home and raised the alarm.
Police and bomb disposal experts were called to the private primary school and sealed off the area round the man's home near Market Hill for three hours before declaring the device safe.
It was removed and is still being inspected by forensic scientists.
Two 16-year-olds from Maldon - a boy and a girl - are helping police with their inquiries.
