Vandals who fired golf balls at the windows of a school were caught on a security camera.
Police are now examining the film of the attack on Hazelmere Junior School, Greenstead, Colchester, which happened on Sunday night.
The vandals caused about £700 damage to the kitchen area of the school.
Headteacher Nigel Hookway said: "It did not affect any of the lessons at all, so there was no danger to any of the children, which was my main concern."
Mr Hookway said: "We have evidence on CCTV who is responsible. It just goes to prove that the CCTV system has worked."
