George Burley has failed in his bid to land a mystery seven-figure Premiership player.
The Ipswich Town boss confirmed his offer - thought to be for Manchester United starlet Mark Wilson - had been rejected.
Another player thought to have caught Burley's eye is Coventry's John Aloisi, although that link appears less realistic.
An equaliser deep into injury-time broke Town's hearts in last night's FA Youth Cup clash with Sheffield United.
Robert Dickinson fired the young Blues in front before a late leveller earned the Blades a replay.
The winners meet Manchester United or Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals.
