The only Southend Junior League under-11 side to get into action on a rainswept weekend were Blackshot Colts, who were on another planet when taking on Saturn X1 in the fourth round of the EASY Cup.

Despite the poor conditions caused by the bad weather, this was a game well worth watching between two sides boasting 100 per cent records.

Blackshot took the lead in the 20th minute with a superb shot into the roof of the net from Taz Nicholls.

The visitors pressed Blackshot back into their own half until half-time in their desperate bid for an equaliser.

Blackshot stand-in keeper Ryan Cariello made a great point blank save just before half-time to keep his side one up at the break.

Fifteen minutes into the second-half Nicholls scored his second, once again into the roof of the net.

The goal seemed to take some of the sting out of Saturn. However, they were only again prevented from scoring when Cariello saved the situation.

Credit must go to the players of both sides for their performance in the conditions and Blackshot were obviously delighted to maintain their record.

Things were not so good for Blackshot in the Under-15 County Cup as they went down 10-1 at Lakeview with Bunn sticking their only goal in the "oven".

It was in this age group that the only domestic League game to beat the weather was played. This came in the B Division where Steepleview beat Northleigh Colts 2-0 with Lowe and Oxby scoring.
