Angry Dean Stoker kicked his girlfriend's brother in the head outside a Canvey nightclub because he thought he had offered her drugs.

A Basildon Crown Court jury found Stoker, of Gills Avenue, Canvey, guilty of battery following a fracas outside the Kings nightclub.

Stoker, 22, along with David Hardy, of Athos Road, Canvey, taunted 31-year-old Lee Wheatley outside the club after allegedly seeing him give his sister drugs.

However, both Stoker and Hardy were acquitted of assaulting Mr Wheatley but Stoker was found guilty of kicking his victim in the head when he was unconscious.

Mr Wheatley's sister, Lindsay, 23, said her brother had offered her whizz - amphetamine sulphate - from a small bag at Kings nightclub.

She explained that Stoker had always been against drug taking.

Outside the nightclub, Stoker and Hardy confronted Mr Wheatley and demanded to know what he was doing offering drugs to his own sister.

Stoker told the court: "I thought he was going to hit me. So I struck him on the left side of his face with one blow and he fell to the ground."

Stoker then kicked Mr Wheatley in the head.

Judge Philip Clegg told Stoker he would face community service and compensation.

Stoker was bailed pending sentencing to be made at a later date

Mr Wheatley denied he pushed drugs at the nightclub.
