A man has died in a head on collision in Maldon.
Police were called at 12.20pm on Friday to the accident which took place in Limebrook Road, near the Safeway's roundabout.
The man, who was driving a Mazda, and a woman, driving a Renault Clio, collided head on at around 50mph, police said. It took fire crews about 25 minutes to cut the man, in his 60s and from Maldon, free from the wreckage but he was pronounced dead.
The woman was taken to Broomfield Hospital with minor injuries.
