Biker John Churn died after his machine crashed in Little Wakering on Saturday.

The 27-year-old, of The Woodlands, Shoebury, lost control of his Kawasaki along Barrows Hall Lane. There were no other vehicles involved.

Meanwhile a family travelling on the A13 in Basildon were treated in hospital after their vehicle careered off the road, crashed through a barrier and ended up in a field.

Traffic police believe the Ford Mondeo, which was near the Five Bells roundabout at Vange, had tried to move into the outside lane.

The driver is believed to have lost control and went down the nearside embankment, through a boundary and stopped in a field.

The 35-year-old mother was taken to Basildon Hospital with serious injuries on Saturday. Last night, she was in a "serious but stable condition." Her two sons, aged six and ten, also had to be taken to hospital with the boys' father.

Last Wednesday, biker Andrew Whiteley, 30, of Lodgelands Close, Rayleigh, died after his machine left the A1306 in Purfleet, hit railings before hitting a parked car and bursting into flames.
