Organisers at a carnival have been overwhelmed by the public's response.
There was a huge turnout for the Great Bentley carnival on Saturday, which took place on the village's famous green. Processions, stalls and events of all kinds went on throughout the day, which was helped by the sunny weather.
In the procession were carnival queens from Clacton, Brightlingsea, Trimley, Stowmarket, and the Great Bentley carnival queen Amy White.
In the arena on the green, there were displays by Tendring Dog Agility Group and the Clacton cheerleaders. Bentley in Bloom also put on a display and the village's own TV celebrity Jeremy Spake drove for six-and-a-half hours to be at the carnival where he signed autographs.
So far organisers have managed to tot up the street collection which came to £727.33, and was 28,202 coins in total - £160 up on last year's street collection.
It is hoped when all the money has been added up it will be in the region of £2,500.
The treasurer of the Great Bentley Carnival Association, Lilian Matthams, said it was "absolutely brilliant".
She said: "I have never seen so many people on the green. The sun shone for us and I think everybody enjoyed themselves."
