A man needed hospital treatment after an incident outside a nightclub.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, was involved in a fracas outside the Reflections nightclub in Dovercourt.
He suffered facial injuries during the incident on Friday night and was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
A police spokesperson said it was believed he had fallen and hit his head on something on the ground.
A 27-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
