Essex-based accountancy firm Baker Tillky has grown by 170 per cent in the past five years.
A 13 per cent rise in fee income helped boost growth for the firm, which had a £79.2 million turnover for the 2000 / 2001 financial year.
Baker Tilly has nearly doubled in size since 1998. Said Tracey Callaghan, managing partners of the firm's Chelmsford office: "Our clients increasingly require a specialised range of services which complement our core audit and business advisory offerings.
"As a result, last year the national corporate finance practice stream grew by 41.7 per cent, business recovery by 24.6 per cent by 18.3 per cent."
She added: "The accountancy profession is in the throes of change. A decade ago, recession reigned. Now, consolidation, specialisation and fragmentation are the norm, as the profession transforms itself to meet market requirements.
"A tremendous opportunities exist for firms which are nimble and far-sighted enough to capitalise on this and we are confident that the next three to five years will be challenging and rewarding."
