Children from nine Basildon district junior schools got a taste of the national summer sport at a kwik cricket festival.
Kingswood, Willows and Greensted sent two teams each and there was one from Bardfield, Merrylands, South Green, Rydene, Vange and St Anne Line at the event in Mopsies Park.
Vange and St Anne Line were the winners of pool one, while Ryedene, South Green, Willows shared the pool two honours. Merrylands claimed pool three.
The festival attracted around 120 youngsters and was organised by Basildon Council's sports development department in conjection with the parks department, Basildon and Pitsea Cricket Club and Essex County Cricket Board.
