Rochford Bowling Club battled to a 102-89 draw against South Benfleet BC in a friendly match involving three rinks for the men and two for the ladies.

Club Captain John Horrex's rink had a four-shot success and the rink skipped by Joyce Edwards put up a fighting performance to get a draw.

Rochford were beaten 73-65 overall in a three-rink friendly against Chalkwell Bowling Club. The rink skipped by Brian Tolhurst sparked the home side with a five-shot victory.

Rochford edged a Top Gear Triples contest 75-65 against Wakering Bowls Club after both sides had a win and two losses each. Beryl Horrex had the top result - a 22-12 success.

Rochford continued their success in the Travelsphere ladies competition with a 75-47 victory over Runwell Ladies.

The club won singles, pairs and fours, but the triples lost.

Pegasus got revenge for an earlier cup defeat when they beat Rochford 102-50 in the County Shield first round.

Defeat on both rinks saw Rochford go down to South Benfleet in a Group Six Division 1 and emerge pointless.

Southend and District Bowling Association had a superb 44-shot victory over Romford and District in a six-rink friendly. John Goring's rink's crushing 32-6 win was crucial to the outcome.
