For the second year running the Braintree Golf Club senior team have reached the Premier County Inter Club Knockout competition semi-final.
Sixty-four teams compete for the Thornton Cup and it represents an outstanding achievement for the club to reach this stage of such a prestigious event.
The morning foursomes was a tight affair with The Three Rivers team battling to keep in touch and some excellent golf played by both sides, Braintree led 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 going into the afternoon singles.
After running out winners in the afternoon 6 1/2 to 3 1/2 the overall result was 10-5.
In his speech, Braintree team captain, Colin Taylor, thanked all the supporters and caddies and asked for even better support for the semi finals against Orsett GC at Warley Park on August 19.
He also commended the sporting Three Rivers team and commented that youth was on their side and felt sure they will be a force in the competition for the years to come.
