Reward! Sunday lunch for catching a thief.
An extraordinary reward has been offered in a bid to catch thieves who snatched garden furniture.
The gang stole a set of garden umbrellas from the courtyard of the Shepherd and Dog pub at Langham.
The four umbrellas were made from sailcloth and African elm wood. They were worth a total of about £1,500.
But landlord Paul Barnes has now offered a tasty reward for information leading to the conviction of the thieves.
Mr Barnes is offering free Sunday lunch for two people at the pub every week for six months.
He said: "Whoever took the umbrellas must be local.
"They knew they were there and even took the fixing points for them."
The four umbrellas have canopies three metres square. They are raised with pulleys.
Anyone with information about the theft should contact Colchester police on 01206 762212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
