Colchester United's footballers enjoyed a welcome break from the rigours of pre-season training today (Wednesday) to play in the club's annual Golf Day at Stoke-by-Nayland.
With the League kick-off only three days away U's boss Steve Whitton reported his squad is boasting a near 100 per cent clean bill of health and are raring to get back into Division Two action.
Whitton said: "If everyone performs to their ability and stays fit then I know in my mind what my starting line-up for Saturday's game at Chesterfield is going to be.
"A lot can happen between now and Saturday and I want all my fit players to know they are still in with a chance."
The new season has come all too early for long term injury victim Jason Dozzell who only resumed full training this week.
But worries about Gavin Johnson (calf strain) and Ross Johnson (sore shin) are improving.
