Southend United clocked up a comfortable 2-0 pre-season win at Dr Marten's League Premier Division Cambridge City.
Right-back Martyn Booty shot the Shrimpers into a first-half lead from the penalty spot after a Jason Harris cross had been handled in the box on Thursday.
And trialist frontman Eddie Duah, who had played against Blues for Billericay Town on Monday evening, got the Seasiders' second goal after the break.
Winger Scott Forbes whipped a centre into the near-post and Duah, who featured in Southend's reserves last season, provided a neat finish to seal the Shrimpers' triumph.
There was also good news on the injury front, with striker Mark Rawle coming off the bench for a run-out following a knee injury.
However, Blues' other crock, midfielder Ben Smith, is still struggling with an ankle knock.
Southend: Capleton, Booty, Wardley (Cleverley), McSweeney, D Lunan, Forbes, Risbridger, Hunter (Duah), Kerrigan, Harris, Bramble (Rawle /Pitts).
