Volunteers at a Rayleigh charity shop were fuming after thieves broke into a storage shed and plundered their stock.

The South East Essex Animal Trust shop in Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, raises cash for needy animals in the area but is constantly targeted by thieves.

In the latest raid a shed was broken into and sacks full of clothes strewn everywhere after the thieves helped themselves to what they wanted.

Volunteer Margaret Newman said: "We were getting quite a lot of break-ins earlier in the year but then everything was quiet for two or three months until this."
