The parents of missing schoolgirl Danielle Jones joined officers to deliver thousands of leaflets in East Tilbury - seven weeks since the couple last saw their beloved daughter.

In the pamphlets Linda Jones has published a handwritten message thanking the public for their support and begging residents to continue helping the police.

Assistant Chief Constable John Broughton also printed an appeal asking people to search their garages, sheds and outbuildings for signs of anything suspicious.

He also asks locals to think back to Monday, June 18, the day Danielle went missing, to see if they remember anything which could help the police search.

Police are hoping the leaflets, which have photographs of Danielle printed on them, will jog someone's memory or persuade someone with information about the blonde 15-year-old to come forward.

At one point during the drop, Linda, 41, turned to the press and said: "Thank you all for turning up. It is very important to involve the community. We really appreciate what they are doing."

Around 30 special constables from divisions across south Essex gave up their own time to join in the drop.
