Alun Armstrong felt he and his Ipswich Town team-mates received a footballing lesson after being soundly beaten by PSV Eindhoven.
The Dutch champions triumphed 2-0 in front of almost 15,000 fans at Portman Road on Saturday.
He said: "The only disappointment was the result. I thought the first half was pretty even but after that they taught us a bit of a lesson.
"Having said that, we could have been 2-0 up at half-time. I missed a couple of decent chances and so did Marcus Stewart."
Boss George Burley said Finidi George was set to become an Ipswich player before the end of the week
A fee has been negotiated with Real Mallorca and the Nigerian agreed personal terms and passed a medical last week. All that remains is for George to obtain a work permit.
