England captain Nasser Hussain is hopeful of being fit for the next Australia game after a successful run-out playing for Essex's second team at Halstead.
The former Essex and current England captain has missed the last two Ashes Tests after breaking a broken bone in his right hand.
This week he is playing for Essex seconds against Notts seconds. After spending much of the day in the field he batted at the end of the day and finished on 24 not out.
More information about Essex County Cricket Club's 2001 season Hussain described the day as beneficial and told cricket website CricInfo "Apart from the batting practice, it's important for me to get plenty of fielding under my belt. "I've had some good net practice and batting has not been a problem. "Overall it's been an invaluable exercise for me today and I'm more than happy with the outcome."
