Heartless thieves have stolen the generator used to power the Essex Police's mobile incident office set up to gather information on missing teenager Danielle Jones.

Danielle disappeared on her way to school in June and police believe the teenager was abducted.

A police spokeswoman branded the theft as "particularly heartless and despicable".

The generator went missing from the unit in Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury, sometime between 10pm yesterday (Wednesday) and 8.25am today.

The mobile incident office is staffed by both local residents and police for residents to be kept informed and anyone with information on Danielle to call in.

Police went to hear from anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area with a white Transit type van with blacked out windows and a blue strip over the wheel arches.

Anyone with information should contact PC Fitzjohn at Corringham police on 01375 361212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
