The last of Braintree Golf Club Ladies Section's Silver 2 matches was played at Benton Hall last Monday and Braintree came out the winners by four games to three, the deciding match going to the 19th.

Jenny Pease, Ann Snow, Rosemary Kerr, Lynda Carter, Iris Heath, Ann Anderson and Jan Bone.

The team has now won five matches and lost two and wait to hear whether Braintree go through to the semi-final to compete for the County Silver Trophy, depending on the number of other clubs matches won and lost.

Thirty-seven ladies played in the 18 hole stableford qualifying competition.

The winner with 40 points was Jane Thompson (h/c 27). In second place was Helen Dilley (h/c 23) with 36 points, on count back from Pat Souter (h/c 12) in third place, also with 36 points, again on count back from Jenny Nicholls (h/c 28) in fourth place with 36 points.

At the ladies open four ball better ball competition held at West Essex Golf Club this competition being part of their Festival of Golf week, two Braintree ladies collected prizes of champagne.

Lilian Williams won the nearest the pin on the 15th hole, and Dru Kohle had the longest and straightest drive on the 13th hole.

Braintree's Silver 1 team missed going through to the semi-final to compete for the County Silver Shield, losing out to West Essex by one lost game.
