The eighth and final round of the East Anglia BMX Summer Series took place at Royston on Sunday with Braintree BMX Club providing 20 of the 121 competitors.

The best six rounds of eight determine the riders' regional rankings which many of them will take to the British Championships later this month so good results were needed at this meeting.

The final places will be known shortly but there were some tremendous individual performances from the Club's riders.

Rael Turnell took some excellent third places in his novice heats but crashed out of the final and Matthew Barrier took a couple of sixth places in the same races.

In the under six's, Tom Hall was delighted with a second place in one heat and third in his final. Kevin Sherwood was second in all his cruiser races and his daughter Chloe won all her seven/eight girls' class.

Katie Roberts fought well to take all seconds in the nine/10 year old girls events and James Humphrey took all fourth places in the eight year old boys heats and fifth in his final.

In the 10 year olds, Bradley Watts missed out on his first race but took a couple of thirds and won the B final while Ashley Hall had thirds in all his heats and a good fifth in the A final.

Moving up a year, Matt Humphrey took all eighth places with Danny Bateman just in front of him, but it was Liam Sherwood who forced his way into some superb third places.

In the 12 year olds, James Barker rode with real determination to take three wins out of four and in the next year, Jonathan Roberts made sure of his sixth maximum points meeting leaving the competition trailing.

Toby Cherrill was pleased with his best placed fourth in the heats and fifth in his final and in the 14 year olds, Matt Barker was first overall in his class after some fine performances.

Making an immediate impression on the 25+ races, Paul Bennett took all second places with Kevin Sherwood not far behind on each occasion in all fifths.

The combined 17+ and Masterclass races saw all three of Braintree's riders go through to the B final with Ryan Everitt taking a fine victory and chased across the line by Alex Humphrey with Darren Eastall in an excellent fourth place.
