A £76,235 windfall will be spent on new facilities in the maternity ward at Colchester General Hospital.
The money, part of £100 million of funding for more than 200 units countrywide, will be spent on refurbishing rooms and buying new equipment.
Other hospitals in the area will also get funding: Clacton Hospital will receive £96,100 and Harwich Hospital has been allocated £461,036.
