When you get to 104 years old you are entitled to something a little bit different on your birthday.

And staff at Longleat Residential Home in Carnarvon Road, Clacton came up with just that for Chrissy Buchanan's special day.

Miss Buchanan, who is originally from north of the border, was entertained by a Scottish piper to mark the occassion.

Care assistant Kay Saunders said the treat went down well.

She retired to Clacton from Scotland, where she worked in a shoe shop 44 years ago, and lived with her twin sister, Annie.

They both moved into the home in 1987 but Annie died in 1991.

Miss Buchanan, a keen church goer and one of seven sisters, is the home's oldest resident and one of the oldest in Clacton.
