The boss of Ford Motor Company Ian McAllister is to be the main speaker at Essex's key annual public examination of its future prosperity, the Essex Business Debate.

At the meeting on Tuesday October 30 Mr McAllister is to describe Ford's five year plan and predict how it will affect the regional economy.

The theme this year is what are the drivers that will influence the county economy into the future.

When the agenda was planned there had been no US terror attack or western response and this is likely to be a theme taken up in the second half of the meeting at County Hall's elegant Council Chamber in Duke Street during the question and answer session.

In part one an overview will be given by Peter Rainbird chairman of Essex Economic Partnership referring to future exciting projects for the Essex business community.

David Fell a director of Brook Lyndhurst Ltd, specialists in regional economic analysis, regeneration and sustainability who will describe current developments in the economy and their likely future effect. His main theme will be the lingering effects of the foot and mouth and tourism crisis.

Michael Large, regional chairman of the Institute of Directors, will be in the chair.
