Building work is about to begin on the first Helen Rollason Cancer Care Centre.
A four-bedroom detached house in Springfield, Chelmsford, will form the base of the cancer care centre, which will offer complementary therapies, counselling and drop-in facilities for those people affected by cancer.
A chairman of the charity, Broomfield Hospital consultant oncologist Dr Neville Davidson, said: "The vision of the Helen Rollason Cancer Care Centre Appeal is today becoming a reality. We are delighted that the appeal is in a position to support the people of Chelmsford."
The pilot centre should be completed within two or three months and will provide care for people from all over the county.
A chemotherapy suite, attached to the new centre, is set to open at Broomfield Hospital early next year.
The suite will offer 12 places to people undergoing cancer treatment and will be on the top floor of the Chelmsford hospital.
To ensure that the work of the appeal continues to help as many people touched by cancer as possible, it needs continued support.
