Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered at his home in Dovercourt.

Scenes of crime officers spent several hours at the property in Main Road.

The 49-year-old man, who has not been named by police, was found in the kitchen of the house by his father on Friday just before 10.30am.

Det Sgt Martin Brough said that a post mortem examination would be carried out on the man yesterday (Monday).

"We are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage and we are awaiting results of the post mortem," he said.

"However, as a precautionary measure we did have a scenes of crime team at the property on Friday."
