The Ministry of Defence is ending its 'bunker mentality' towards the local media with the creation of eight regional press offices, including East Anglia.

Lt Col Stuart Green has been appointed by the Ministry of Defence as its first East Anglia press officer.

He was previously Head of Media Operations working from a bunker at the UK's Permanent Joints Headquarters (PJHQ), Northwood, and before that head of the British Forces' press office in Germany.

Lt Col Green commented: "The MOD has for some time been aware that it tended to communicate only to the London-based press, but the new regional structure sees the creation of eight offices, each dealing with all the services and procurement issues.

"I am looking forward to raising the profile of defence in East Anglia and working with local journalists throughout the region."
