A Southend United shareholder has called for an emergency meeting to discuss the club's future.
Hugh Cumberland, of Pudsey Hall Lane, Canewdon, wants to quiz the directors on the club's future as he says it "looks very bleak."
It follows the resignation of club manager David Webb and the breakdown of a deal to build a 16,000 all-seater stadium at Fossetts Farm in Eastern Avenue, Southend.
Mr Cumberland 43, said: "Southend United are in limbo. We are £5m in debt and we have no manager. We do not own our own ground and the lease for Roots Hall runs out in 18 months time.
"What are we going to do then, especially now we are not moving to Fossetts Farm?"
He contacted other independent shareholders and says he has their support to call the meeting.
He said: "We may not control the club's destiny but we can surely try to make those who do more accountable." Find out more about Southend United FC
