Stanway Rovers provided a tonic for out-of-sorts manager Steve Ball with a 3-0 Jewson League division one success at Whitton on Wednesday.
Ball was unable to attend the match because of illness so handed the reins to assistant Jimmy McIntyre.
Julian Hazel opened the scoring after steering home a free-kick by Lee Abrehart, recently signed from Wivenhoe.
Danny Smith added a second after the break before a shot was parried by the Whitton keeper and Abrehart was first to the loose ball to make it 3-0.
Ball said: "Jimmy took charge of the side in my absence and did a superb job. By all accounts, we dominated the game and that was with five key players missing."
Stanway have re-signed Duncan Jackson from rivals Brightlingsea.
Harwich and Parkeston slippedto another comprehensive defeat, losing 4-0 against Stowmarket, and have now conceded ten goals in their last two games. To add to the Shrimpers' woes they also have not scored in those matches.
Visiting Stowmarket after a 6-0 drubbing at Newmarket, Harwich started brightly and forced keeper Simon Nunn into an early save.
David Head forced Nunn to tip the ball round the post with a fierce drive.
After a goalless first half, the floodgates opened in the second half with the scorers including former Brightlingsea star Wayne Pannell
