A new director of Maldon and District Council for Voluntary Service has taken over.
Kevin Wearing will be working with five full and part-time staff.
He comes from a business start up and acquisitions and mergers background, working in places such as India, Brazil and Maylasia. For the past two years he has been working as a consultant and has been involved in various voluntary activities.
Mr Wearing said the CVS's remit is much broader than just being a volunteer bureau which will be run by a manager, there will be an information service and an outreach service working with voluntary groups in the area.
