Groups of anti-war protesters from south Essex were among the demonstrators who brought London to a near standstill in a peace rally over the bombing of Afghanistan.
Dave Murray, of the Basildon Peace Coalition, said: "The terror attacks were terrible but the answer is not military action, which will have horrific consequences for the seven million starving Afghans."
