A middle-aged woman is recovering after being knocked to the ground as a street robber pounced.
The robbery took place in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff when she was crossing a railway bridge.
The attacker grabbed the woman's handbag and caused her to fall to the ground where she hit her head and suffered bruising.
The man made off with her bag containing a mobile phone and a passport.
